Arthurs Pass New Zealand Gate way to the westcoast

Arthur's Pass is 2 hours from Christchurch by road or on the TranzAlpine Train The trip is 223.8 kilometres long and takes four and a half hours. There are 19 tunnels, and 4 viaducts, the highest being the Staircase standing at 73 metres.
The TranzAlpine departs Christchurch and Greymouth daily.
30 more minutes heading towards the west, the next stop over the Arthurs pass or the Otira Gorge is the town of Otira, 1 more hour drive is the town of Greymouth. Tramping, camping, walking, snow, rivers, creeks, mountains the great outdoors awaits you.
